Pence Has a History of Praising Hillary Clinton

As Mike Pence takes the stage tonight at the Republican National Convention, we thought it would be helpful to give a refresher on the praise he has showered on Hillary Clinton in the past:

  • “I think Hillary Clinton is an enormously appealing individual, I would say coast-to- coast for my district out in the middle of heartland America, this is -- this is one of the most admired, not only women, but public people in America.” - Mike Pence on CNN’s Crossfire, 4/14/05
  • “On a broad number of issues related to the war on terror, Senator Clinton has been a strong supporter of national defense.” - Mike Pence on CNN’s Crossfire, 5/13/05
  • “I want to thank the Secretary of State for her testimony and her service to the country.  It's good to see you back before the committee.  I also want to thank you, specifically, for the efforts by the administration and your offices to further isolate Libya during a time of extraordinary tragedy in the streets, tragedy of which I think we're probably only partially aware.” - Mike Pence, Hearing On Economy’s Impact On U.S. Foreign Policy, House Committee On Foreign Affairs, 3/2/11
  • “Gadhafi must go.  And I'm -- I'm grateful to hear the secretary of State and the administration take that position unambiguously.” - Mike Pence, Hearing On Economy’s Impact On U.S. Foreign Policy, House Committee On Foreign Affairs, 3/2/11
  • “We commend you for addressing some of the common challenges facing China and the United States, such as security threats, weakened economies, and environmental concerns, during your recent trip to China.“ - Mike Pence letter to Hillary Clinton, Christian Newswire, 3/5/09
